How to Start Your Screenwriting Career for Film & TV

It's difficult breaking into the film and TV industry, and sometimes it feels like there's not enough advice about specific departments. As part of my channels mission to spread helpful information and advice on the industry, I'm diving into a new series where I interview successful professionals and deep dive into their specific departments. This new series is called Walkie Check!

In this latest episode, I interview Alice Stanley Jr., a writer for film, television, and theater. Along with successfully writing and selling a number of plays and scripts, she has also been a Writer’s Assistant on Wine Country, a staff writer for Busy Tonight, an onset writer for an upcoming Netflix film, Moxie, directed by Amy Poehler, and she’s currently a creative consultant for the 2020 GLAAD Awards.

She shares advice on how to get started, how to navigate Hollywood as a writer, and so much more. Check out the full interview here.

Last week, in my first episode of Walkie Check!, I interviewed Marcella Caudill, a professional costumer, and aspiring costume designer. Check it out if you haven't already!

In upcoming episodes, I'll be talking to directors, cinematographers, and other departments! Make sure to catch them by subscribing and signing up for the newsletter.
